NATIONAL CASTING CALL - PLEASE SHARE!!!
A Denver, Colorado area video game company is casting ASIAN FEMALE ACTORS AND EVERYDAY PEOPLE, for a unique opportunity in an unannounced story-driven video game project.
We are seeking actors as well as every-day people to fill this role. Our “full performance” motion capture technology allows us to simultaneously capture a performer's entire nuanced performance including body, face and voice, and use it to bring the digital video game characters to life. Your likeness will not be used in the final game, only your physical performance and your voice.
For interested ACTORS: You have strong physical instincts including the range and control of a theater performance, with the subtlety and nuance of film performance. Ability to find emotional truth in every line of dialog, motivation in every movement, and deliver natural, believable voice over.
For interested EVERYDAY PEOPLE: You may not have any acting experience, and that’s okay. However, you should be confident and in touch with who you are, and self-aware of how you feel. You readily access what makes you happy, what makes you scared, and what makes you sad. You are comfortable with engaging with others and expressing a range of emotions. Other than that, it’s all about “being yourself” under imaginary circumstances.
The client is focused on narrative adventure video games with 20 years experience in the game industry. Their most recent project won multiple awards and was nominated for a BAFTA.
Union Status: Non-SAG
Genre: Story-Driven Video Game
Production: This role will shoot 1 day in the Denver, CO area. Scheduled based on actor availability, in early 2020. If cast from out-of-state, you will be provided travel, food, and lodging.
Audition: For the initial audition, you will be recording and submitting your voice only. Any recording quality level accepted, including using your phone. Please be sure that we can hear the quality of your voice and the nuance of your performance clearly. Please slate the beginning of your audition with your name and agency if represented. Give at least one reading of each line. You may choose to give two reads for some lines, if you feel multiple motivations.
Sides: Attached to this posting below.
Callbacks: Due to the upcoming holidays, expect to be contacted January 2nd or 3rd to schedule a call back. Callbacks are currently scheduled for the week of January 13th in the Denver, CO area. We will have Skype callbacks for remote candidates.
Role
Name: Mai Nguyen
Sex: Female-Identifying
Age: Must SOUND 35-45
Ethnicity: Asian heritage required. Mixed-race is fine, but anyone submitting MUST have at least some Asian heritage. See details about accent and vocal qualities below.
Type: Supporting
Rates: Full day = $1000 + 15% agency fee. Half-day = $600 + 15% agency fee.
Travel, food, and lodging provided if cast outside the Denver, CO area.
Character Bio
Mai Nguyen saw more tragedy in her first five years of life than most do in their lifetimes. Born at the end of the Vietnam War, Mai experienced the horrors of the conflict both directly and indirectly, before her family fled to Thailand in 1974.
The Nguyen family eventually found its way to the United States in the early 1980s and Mai's life returned to some semblance of normalcy, though the atrocities committed around her in childhood lingered for long after.
But Mai was a resilient and ambitious girl, and found great peace in music. She sang every day (in the shower, while working, before bed) and for a time hoped that she could make a career out of her passion. But that was not her reality, and she struggled to survive on a cleaner's salary. She met her husband Lee at his Chinese restaurant and the two became a couple. They had two children: Marcus and Allie.
Vocal Qualities
Mai is Vietnamese by birth, but due to her early childhood relocation - and her marriage to a Chinese partner - Mai could have any number of Asian accents, including Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai. She might also have an American accent given how long she has lived in the United States.
